Massage Therapist Mish Curtis
offers three foundational, effective techniques, as well as
several specialty treatments. Her broad expertise offers many
benefits to her clients.
SWEDISH MASSAGE
is the most common and well-known technique. It is usually
applied with oil and incorporate long, smooth, slow strokes
along with kneading, friction, compression, percussion and
vibration. This system of treatment provides relaxation to
the mind and body along with increased cell nutrition, improved
circulation, and may reduce swelling, speed healing, lower
blood pressure and reduce stress.
DEEP TISSUE
is a technique that focuses on deeper layers of the muscle
tissue. It aims to release chronic patterns of tension, reduce
adhesions and scar tissue and increase general blood flow
to the fascia, tendons, ligaments and muscle tissue. Slow
deep strokes are used with pressure applied with the fingers,
knuckles and elbows. This technique often feels good immediately
after the treatment and for days after it, although soreness
is common.
SPORTS INJURY MASSAGE
is used to help active people and athletes to prevent injury
and recover quickly from workouts and to maintain optimal
condition. Depending on the time of next activity, this technique
can often feel invigorating and can be used to prep the body
for an athletic endeavor. Compressions, range of motion and
stretching are used to prepare the muscles for demanding activities.
Mish also combines other techniques in her massages including:
Hydrotherapy, Aromatherapy, Foot Reflexology, Hawaiian
massage and Reiki energy work.

MISH CURTIS,
Massage Therapist
Mish comes from a dance and theatre background, receiving
a Bachelor of Arts in Dance at Southern Oregon State University
in 1990. Her combined fascination with kinesiology, the mechanics
of bodies in motion, and the process of physical recovery
from injury led her to study therapeutic massage. She graduated
from Brennekie School of Massage in 1994 and began a 10-year
employment at an Athletic Club in downtown Seattle. During
this tenure, she developed her style which incorporates a
combination of techniques including: Swedish, Deep Tissue,
Sports Injury, Reflexology, Lomi Lomi, Reiki, Aromatherapy,
and Hot Stone massage. Mish looks forward to assisting a new
clientele who are looking to strengthen, rejuvenate, recover,
and revive their spirits through bodywork.
In her spare time Mish roams the trails and parks with her
husband and her golden retriever, takes Tango and African
dance classes, choreographs and performs at various venues
and is an aspiring collage and mixed-media artist.
