Artist bio: Jess Rees is a Seattle based artist that explores notions of self and sense of place. She expresses her lifelong interest in urban naturalism and the boundaries between natural and constructed worlds through installation, sculpture, and drawing. She looks at how our lives fit into the cosmic scene – internally and externally – through ecology, biology, architecture, psychology, history and art. Artist bio: Jeanie Lewis is a primarily self-taught artist, coming from a family full of artistically inclined people. Early on she started with still lifes and watercolor, but then in 1997 discovered the exotic world of henna body art. Since then she has combined her knowledge of henna-esque design vocabulary from many cultures with bright, metallic acrylic paints and heavy texture. She is also extremely passionate about travel and photography, with several trips to India and Turkey which have influenced her art as well. She and her dog, Bob, live in Seattle where she works as a professional henna body artist. She is currently planning her next exciting adventure abroad.
