Yamuna Body Rolling is
relaxing, challenging and lengthening – all rolled into a fun workout!
YBR is a technique that uses balls to access the body’s connective tissue. YBR reeducates muscles and stimulates bone growth, creating positive, permanent changes in the body. It allows you to work specific muscles in detail, from head to toe, to create suppleness in tight areas and optimize range of motion. The bone stimulation results in increased bone density and assists in preventing osteoporosis.
To learn the YBR techniques, attend a class or workshop, or schedule private sessions anytime. Check out our schedule page for up-coming dates and times.
Yamuna Body Rolling is similar to a hands-on practitioner, yet the ball replaces hands as it moves on muscles to stretch them, dislodge tension and discomfort, increase blood flow and promote healing. Lying over the ball, you literally roll your body out like dough, stretching and elongating the muscles in your whole body, from head to toe.
Once you learn the technique, you may purchase a set of balls and continue your practice at home. Yamuna Body Rolling Balls and books are available for purchase at Studio Evolve. Individual YBR balls range in price from $16.49 to $41.95. We recommend you come to Studio Evolve for refresher sessions – Yamuna is always reinventing her dynamic work. You may also choose to integrate Yamuna Body Rolling into your regular Pilates sessions. For more information on Yamuna Body Rolling and how to train to be an Instructor, click on this link.
“Since I’ve started body rolling, I have less pain, my muscles recover more quickly from intense workouts and I haven’t been to the chiropractor in months. It is such an important part of my routine that I travel with my body rolling set!” — Shana
Yamuna Body Rolling FAQs:
What can YBR do for me?
YBR helps improve postural patterns, helps keep your skeletal structure well aligned, increases bone density and prevents you from developing restrictions as you age. The work increases blood circulation to muscles, frees up muscle restrictions, increases range of motion and flexibility, improves posture and develops musculoskeletal strength and integrity; all resulting in increasing and maintaining muscle tone.
Will YBR help me lose weight?
Perhaps. The back routine stimulates all the nerve roots along the spine. In turn, these nerve roots stimulate the function of most of our vital organs. The abdominal routines stimulate the organs and glands directly. Both of these forms of stimulation increase circulation (which boosts metabolism) and encourage lymphatic drainage (which reduces fluid buildup). Putting direct pressure into the digestive organs also helps them function better, so your elimination and digestion improve. All these factors help you lose weight. However, the primary goals of YBR do not include weight loss.
How many times a week should I do YBR in order to obtain results?
You can safely do YBR daily. It can be incorporated into any workout program, as either a warm-up or cool-down exercise. Noting how you feel after a session is your best gauge for when to roll again.
If I only have fifteen minutes, which routine is the best to do?
The focus of each routine is different. Listen to what your body need today. If you always only have fifteen minutes, vary what area you work. Do the spine the first time, hamstrings and glutes the next and then roll your quads and abdomen. This way, over several days, you work your way through your whole body, maintaining balance through your system.
