After running Studio Evolve since 2006, here’s one thing I know for sure: Pilates and Gyrotonic is for everybody. Look around our space on a typical day, and you’ll see people from many walks of life putting Pilates and Gyrotonic exercises to work for them.
Gone are the days when people thought only celebrities, ballet dancers, and women under 30 could practice this movement method. And good riddance to those days! Over more than a decade, I’ve seen Pilates and Gyrotonic sessions make a profound difference in the bodies and lives of our vibrant studio family - from new moms to the newly retired, from marathon runners to Netflix marathon watchers.

Pilates and Gyrotonic sessions strengthen the deep core muscles that support your spine, promoting supple and pain-free spinal movement. In addition, our work together addresses mobility restrictions and postural habits that can make your back feel out of whack. Your instructor’s guidance and our state-of-the-art equipment will keep you in proper alignment while you strengthen the muscles around the affected joints, all without having to bear your full body weight.
2. “I just finished physical therapy and I don’t want to lose ground.“
Many of our clients have “graduated” from physical therapy, have been cleared to exercise and want a movement practice that keeps them healthy. Our teachers are happy to consult with your physical therapist to create a safe and effective full-body movement program.

Pilates and Gyrotonic private sessions have a beautiful way of meeting you where you are today, regardless of your fitness level. Beginning clients often say that their first Reformer workout didn’t feel super difficult in the moment. They were sweating, but they also were actually…enjoying themselves! As a movement practitioner, movement studio owner, and certified human person, here’s what I’ve learned: To be in a body that moves is a miracle — one that we can easily take for granted until that body doesn’t move so easily anymore or takes a long time to recover from injuries.
Many of our clients use Pilates and Gyrotonic sessions to help keep up their favorite activities as they get older. It’s a great way to maintain joint health and functional movement patterns in daily life. (Joseph Pilates famously said: You’re only as old as your spine is flexible. If it is completely flexible at 60, you are young.) We’ve had clients doing Pilates in their 90s, and we could not be prouder of them.
