Why an adaptive practice is key to healthy aging

You know staying active is important if you want to enjoy your retirement to the fullest…

You probably don’t need to see the research to know its true: keeping your body moving as you age is critical if you want to be able to hike, travel, have fun with your kids and grandkids, and actually ENJOY your retirement once you get there.

But whether you’re recovering from an injury, a pregnancy, or a surgery, or you’ve got a tweaky back or a creaky neck that doesn’t feel as resilient as it once did, the ways you used to exercise might not work for your body anymore.

Don’t make that a problem.

It’s totally normal to have new tweaks and sensitivities come up as you age.

And there’s no ONE magic exercise formula you can continue to follow, that will give you what you need in every season and every decade of your life.

That’s why the key is to develop a practice that can adapt and change WITH you.

A practice that can meet the needs you have at any given moment, rather than require YOU to try to fit your body into predetermined shapes or sequences.

And that’s exactly the kind of practice we help people build at Studio Evolve.

The styles of Pilates and Gyrotonic that we teach are highly adaptable. They CAN offer athletic strength and coordination challenges if that’s supportive to you at the moment.

And they can also be gentle - while still highly effective for keeping you healthy, preventing injuries, and reducing pain.

If you’re ready to prioritize your health and wellbeing and want support in building a sustainable, long-term structure for your adaptive movement practice, we’d love to invite you to check out The Accelerator.

It’s a one-month container that includes private Pilates or Gyrotonic sessions plus bodywork and/or breathwork, and we’ll customize it to fit into your schedule and meet your needs.

Working with Martine is both grounding and expansive. She enjoys the practice of energetically, verbally and somatically attuning with and guiding clients. Her use of SPRe® Bodywork, as well as her curiosity and engagement leads to delightful moments of clarity and greater physical comfort for her clients.

Martine feels an essential component to building a strong partnership with her client is a foundation of trust, openness and curiosity.
