How Pilates Helped Lucy Ease Plantar Fasciitis and Build Strength at 53

Lucy’s journey back to health and strength began in 2013 when she first found Studio Evolve in Wallingford, Seattle. As an avid runner, she was searching for something more than just cardio—she wanted the community and holistic benefits that Pilates offered. After moving away and facing challenges with consistency, Lucy returned to Seattle in 2020, ready to reclaim her health.

From Plantar Fasciitis to Strength and Flexibility

When Lucy returned to Studio Evolve, she was dealing with severe plantar fasciitis and the effects of perimenopause. Her doctors recommended focusing on strength training and reducing cardio, and she knew Pilates would be the perfect fit.

"Between Pilates and PT, my plantar fasciitis has gotten so much better—it's night and day from what it used to be," Lucy shares. Over the course of her 50 Pilates sessions, Lucy not only eased her pain but also regained strength, flexibility, and a greater sense of well-being. She now feels more toned and healthier, crediting Pilates for helping her body navigate the ups and downs of aging.

A Supportive Environment for Long-Term Success

One of the reasons Lucy has been able to maintain her practice for almost eight months is the comfortable, non-competitive environment at Studio Evolve. Whether she’s dealing with fatigue from a bad night’s sleep or just wants to take it easy, Lucy always feels free to adjust her workout without pressure.

"I don’t worry about what I look like, what I wear, or if my hair is done. I always feel free to adjust my workout, and it doesn’t feel like a competition," says Lucy.

Lucy’s journey to healing didn’t happen overnight, but through consistency and the right support, she has now completed almost 50 sessions—earning her a spot in the second tier of our Milestone Club at Studio Evolve.
